Mined from personal recordings hoarded over 4 years with a phone’s voice memo app; Lake City EP reflects on the nature of transition both musical and personal. Through a rusty Airbnb mbira, the dissonance at the limits of a radio station’s signal, or the repetitions of an orchestra rehearsal Lake City finds the impermanence of long-distance relationships, the hopeful grind of finding a new apartment every year, or those isolated moments in a crowd during transit. The genres of Atlanta’s underground clubs and warehouse raves provide the framework for movement in appreciation of movement. Lake City itself is a real and imagined place, a destination that exists only between destinations.
